Porsche GT2 RS MR; Fastest Car Around Nurbugring
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR is the fastest road legal car to go around the Nurburgring with a lap time of 6:40.3, this is 7 seconds quicker than the standard GT2 RS and 5 seconds faster than the Lamboghini Aventador SVJ, which is the second fastest road legal car around the 'Ring, and 17 seconds faster than the 918 Spyder.
To get your hands on the fastest road legal track car in the world you first need to get your hands on one of the 500 Porsche GT2 RS'. Porsche actually had to make 504 of them because 4 ended up getting lost at sea. The GT2 RS comes with a 3.8 liter flat six twin turbo pushing 700hp and 750nm of torque to the rear axle via Porsche's famous PDK gearbox. The GT2 RS comes out of the factory as a track ready machine with lots of weight reduction such as a carbon fiber bonnet and a roof made out of magnesium as standard, which also helps lower the center of gravity. The car has a big front splitter and a massive wing to keep the car planted around the corners, it even has a roll cage as standard.
The second step is to take this already track ready monster to the crazy people at Manthey Racing, who thought that the car was just not fast enough. Manthey Racing gives the GT2 RS an upgraded aero, suspension, wheel and tyre package "only" which means that they don't try squeeze more power out of the engine . These upgrades help the car to attack the 170 corners of the 'Ring with more aggression allowing the car to shave off 7 seconds. With the price for the Manthey Racing package being 90,000 Euros, this means that you can get the fastest road legal car in the world for as little as $394,330. This is a total bargain when you take into comparison the Porsche's competition. The second fastest car around the "Green Hell", the Aventador SVJ, comes in with a starting price of $573,966, $179,636 more than the GT2 RS MR
Sadly the Porsche GT2 RS MR will not be on the throne for much longer as Aston Martin's £2-3 million track destroying Valkyries are set to be the fastest road legal car that the 'Ring has ever seen.
